Abstract

Fibromyalgia (FM) pain affects an estimated 5 million people living in the U.S. and up to 6% of the world population. FM is a debilitating chronic pain condition that can be one of the more severe disorders on the continuum of persistent pain. FM affects both men and women, although research shows that women are at least seven times more likely than men to have a diagnosis of FM. The prevalence of FM increases with age and appears to peak around the sixth decade of life. This project seeks to address some of these questions that still remain. Specifically, we aimed to determine if mindfulness is related to FM impact.
